SEOUL, Korea: As AI continues to advance, security is becoming increasingly important to protect users’ privacy. Samsung Electronics has announced that it will continue to prioritize security, ensuring that consumers can enjoy the AI capabilities of their products in a safer environment.

Samsung Electronics recently revealed that a broader range of products from its Digital Appliances Business have achieved ‘Diamond’ level verification under UL Solutions’ Marketing Claim Verification IoT Security Rating Program. The Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub was the first product in the home appliances industry to attain the ‘Diamond’ level, followed by the Bespoke Jet Bot AI+ vacuum cleaner. Recently, three more products have earned this prestigious verification.

The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo and the Air to Water Heat Pump received their certification in June, while the Bespoke Slide-in Range was verified in July. As a result, Samsung now holds five ‘Diamond’ level verifications from UL Solutions, marking the largest number in the home appliances industry.

“The result shows that Samsung has proved its competitiveness in security, based on Samsung Knox,” said Miyoung Yoo, EVP and Head of the Software Development Team, Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics.

UL Solutions’ IoT Security Rating Program

UL Solutions is a global leader in safety science and evaluates hundreds of marketing claims annually. One of their services, the UL Solutions IoT Security Rating Program, assesses the security capabilities of smart home products.

The program rates products across five levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Each level requires rigorous testing, and the highest ‘Diamond’ level is only awarded after products demonstrate the ability to detect malicious software modifications, prevent unauthorized access, and anonymize user data. Products that achieve the ‘Diamond’ level are particularly distinguished by their capacity to identify unknown vulnerabilities and run programs for early detection of security issues, surpassing the security performance of ‘Platinum’ level products.

Products Newly Verified to Level ‘Diamond’

The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, Air to Water Heat Pump, and Bespoke Slide-in Range recently joined Samsung’s lineup of ‘Diamond’ certified products. These appliances can connect with other devices via SmartThings and offer various AI or smart functionalities.

The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is an all-in-one washer and dryer that eliminates the need to transfer clothes between machines. It features a 7-inch LCD display, allowing users to access recommended cycles based on their preferences and needs. It also enables users to monitor and control all connected appliances in the home seamlessly.

The Air to Water Heat Pump, designed with a sleek, slim fit, integrates well with home environments. Its 7-inch LCD display supports multiple languages and helps users monitor solar PV energy usage. It also allows control of connected appliances.

The Bespoke Slide-in Range offers a customizable cooking experience, complete with a 7-inch LCD display. It connects to other appliances via Bixby and includes a built-in microphone and speaker. The appliance analyzes user preferences, providing personalized guidance, notifications, and recipe recommendations.

Thanks to Samsung Knox, all data and connections between Samsung home appliances are fully secured. Customers can confidently enjoy the AI features of their appliances, assured of strong security performance.

Visitors to IFA 2024, taking place in Berlin from September 6 to 10, will have the chance to see Samsung’s security-certified home appliances, including the newly certified Air to Water Heat Pump and Bespoke AI Laundry Combo.
